Find us at The Bandstand...

Elizabeth works from February Half Term until the first weekend of November. Also from Boxing Day until New Years Day. Also many weekends in January and February if the weather is suitable Charlotte works during the Summer months, as well as Bank Holidays if the weather is suitable.

All trips depart from the Bandstand on Pier Road, by the Lifeboat Museum and last for around 20 minutes. In each case you will hear the 'girls' stories and on Charlotte you are treated to a sing along with some songs from when she was a youngster.

Prices are £4.00 adult, £3.00 concession and £2.00 child. Under fives and dogs travel free, but you must come with them!

All the above is subject to availability and services will not operate during very bad weather conditions.

The last Steam Bus

One of a kind...

Wander over to Whitby's bandstand and you'll meet Elizabeth. At over 80-years-old she's one of the last surviving Sentinel steam buses in the country.

She's also the only one still in regular service in the whole of Europe.

Elizabeth's transformation from lorry to bus was completed in 2005, and after convincing the Government to change the Road Traffic Act, she was ready to become a proper passenger-carrying vehicle… and since then she's caused quite a stir in Whitby.
